What the heck? I bought this expecting it to be a gentle wake up system. The first time the alarm goes off its like a blast for a nuclear bomb. I guess the adaptation phase is how fast you can turn it off without being traumatized out if bed. This app is not for the light sleeper. If you are the type that cant wait up and needs to be hit by a boot to help you wake up . This could be for you. Nice UI though, unfortunately misses the point. Of a gradual wake up.
It does exactly what it is supposed to, a gentle wake up that doesnt shock you awake. Rather, it starts soft and gradually get louder. It calibrates itself depending on how long it takes you to turn off the alarm, but when I try to reset this calibration, the app crashes. Other than that, great app.
This app is useless, you need to have ring at your telephone on max to use It, so instead of Gentle Alarm at 8:00 you have to wake up by normal calls at 7:30..
It doesnt work at all!! And thats it!
Joke app. Wow. I never did use this as my alarm because I kept waking up to the obnoxious light coming from my phone, as the app has to be open in order to work, and the phone wont go into sleep mode while the app is running. I spent $4 on this because a friend recommended it (I think she meant another app with a similar name, it couldnt possibly have been this one). Deleted it after one night. Disgusted.
Awesome App! :D
Does not work at all. Tried 3 nights in a row and no alarm went off at all. Luckily I set a back up. Do no purchase!!!
it looks like this alarm really does need 10 days adapt to you so i imagine that using it for 3 days wont be more effective than any standard alarm. i am only up to 6 wake-ups and already i like that it doesnt startle me. however, i am really looking forward to how much better it can work. the only other thing i wish the developer would do is offer more tips and notes- e.g. how effective is this alarm if you go to sleep at different times each night? an FAQ would be great to have and would probably compel more people to try the app.
I really like the noise it uses to wake you up. It sounds like the ringing bowls in yoga. It would be nice if the app came with a few more instructions.
This a gag app? Gag reviews? The alarm was obnoxious! Startling! Wow! I also have no proof that it in any way adjusted itself to my sleep state. These other reviews must be fake. Serious waste of money!
this app has a great idea behind it, wake up slowly to your specific sleep threshold, but there is a laundry list of things to do for it to work. you need to have the volume all the way up, app running in foreground, plugged in, and it cannot be plugged into an ihome. we need an update that utilizes multitasking.
I got this app in a giveaway, so I didnt need to pay $4. :) Im not quite sure if it geuinely calculates your sleep rhythm or if its just the placebo effect, but I like it. I havent felt groggy ever since I bought it. (and, contrary to the advice, Ive been getting less than the optimal 8 hours of sleep) Let me describe to you how this app works. It plays an alarm that gradually increase in volume. (unfortunately, you cant set the alarm sound, so youre stuck with the unpleasant but energizing buzzing noise.) Once it reaches the lowest volume threshold, youll wake up. In this sense, I guess it adapts to everyones needs since everyone has a different volume threshold. That is pretty much the gist of it. Again, I use it everyday, and apparently it works. In conclusion. Does it work? Yes. Based on pure empirical science? Maybe not, but again, it works. :) Is it worth the money? Well, I guess that depends on you. To reiterate for the third time, it works. However, maybe you already have a very agreeable alarm set up. In that case, its not worth the money. On the other hand, if you dont have an alarm set up of any kind and desperately need one, I suggest this. I hope this review is more informative than the automatic naysayers.
I guess it does what it says. However: • You need to start up the app every night, no recurring alarms • it needs to be active the whole night. no locking the phone, no quick email check (what is this, iOS 2?) • the phone cant be in silent mode. So how should I sleep if every email and text wakes me up? Other apps can play sound while in silent mode (ie navigation) Thus, the risk is high that you forget one of the steps and then you dont have an alarm. Also: • no retina graphics • its too expensive for those shortcomings.
I have used it for only three days. The first morning the emergency backup went off. Horrible. BUT I was up way ahead of my normal morning routine by 40 minutes!!! No alarm nonsense or anxiety The second two mornings I awoke to the soft gentle Tibetan chime as it floated into my sleep state and I woke up feeling better than I have EVER felt waking up. No more buzzers for me One thing, if its not working for you, you might want to have your hearing checked. Im not sure it calibrates for hearing levels... But I could be wrong. I never want to wake up to the backup buzzer again but knowing its there is a comfort...and a motivator. I love this app... And four bucks isnt breaking my bank account. Ive spent plenty on commercial, traditional alarms which got me up....but not happily like this one! Thanks German scientist! (lol)
First night I woke up to light ding noises. The second night and after that I wake up to loud noises that sound like an alarm in a building. First time I heard this I feel out of my bed I was so scared. So DONT put it on full volume if its within 2 feet of your head. Big mistake. But this thing is great. I wake up a little earlier but im wide awake!!
